May 5 email "Elk Grove Round 3"

So the Subject says it all... We got our transfer calls last night and I got the news that I

am staying here in Elk Grove for another Transfer. Elder Murdock will be getting transferred though which is going to be sad.

So a little recap of the week. We have met with Mark and John everyday this week. They are both doing great. John a little bit more bumpy then Mark but still doing good.

John didnt get baptized with Minh and was planning on getting baptized by Minh this past Friday. When we met with him he kept telling us how he didnt feel ready. That excuse has been used enough to know that there is something more going on. We met with him Thursday and He told us that he was good to go for Friday. Then Friday morning rolls around and we find out he doesn't feel ready so we set up a time to meet with him. He asks us a few off the wall questions and i asked him "Have you been looking up things online?" He told us that he had and it all added up. We then talked about how the things you read online are not always true. We then were able to talk about Mathew 13 and the seed being choked by the weeds. He said he was going to read and pray everyday and that he thinks he will be ready by Saturday so that is exciting. We told him that would be a great idea (doing things we've told you to do all along) and that he would get the answer he needs, not what he is looking for but what he needs.

Mark on the other hand is doing so well. He decided he wanted to moved his baptism date up a week so he didnt have to wait to be baptized. He even paid his tithing and fast offerings this past Sunday and he doesnt even get baptized until Saturday! We were able to go up on a temple tour and he felt the spirit really strong. He even mentioned how all the "holes" in other religions are filled by the things he learns when he meets with us. That is when he said that "Not the only church with truth but only true church makes sense." We went into the waiting room inside the temple with him and he felt the spirit instantly. He started pointing right in the middle of his chest saying "i feel it right here!" It is great to see his testimony strengthen and grow.

We are really excited for their baptism this Saturday. Please pray for both John and Mark that they will be able to be prepared for Saturday.

Minh and Sydney, the two that got baptized last week are doing really well! They have callings to be ward missionaries and are going to the temple with us tonight to do proxy baptisms. Minh is the funniest to watch because every time we are in a lesson or in church when he feels the spirit he just smiles ear to ear and starts dancing. He came to a lesson with us yesterday and he was so excited that was able to teach others about the gospel! He says he can not wait to go on a mission in a year! I love that guy. Sydney is a little more reserved but asks us every time we see her how she can be more involved.  They are both great additions to the ward and such blessings in my life.

This week has been full of preparation for a Zone training we had on Friday all about Charity. It was so amazing to see how the spirit guided us to have our whole training centered around the atonement and the statements made from the cross. A lot of them stuck out to me. Jesus pleading for His father to forgive the people that just put Him on the cross, Christ showing his love to his mother by making sure she will be watched over, His cry to ask why he has been forsaken and his dying declaration "It is Finished". We talked about a few others but the showing of Christs Charity and how we are called to be the "Messengers that match the message" by being charitable like Christ.

I am so grateful for the Love that God has for each of us to send his son to die for us and Christ's acceptance of that plan so that we can return and live with him again. Because of the Charity that Jesus Christ had for all of us he made it possible for each one of us to not just repent of our mistakes, but to grow and become a better human being because of the Atonement.
I love him.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve.

Thank you all for your love and support and prays. They are being answered.

Love you all,

Elder Black
