What a week. Another one of the best weeks out there.
On Tuesday we had a zone conference. While we were inside
getting trained, our cars outside were getting fun new devices in them. They
put black boxes in our car that track everything we do. If we speed up, slow
down, turn, go over a bump, or do anything too fast the mission president knows
immediately. If we are speaking.. President knows. If we are not wearing a seat
belt or are out late, president knows. And the coolest thing about it is that
it talks to us while we are driving! It is so neat to have a new friend in the
car that talks to me and keeps us from getting lonely. We call him Timmy the
TIWI. Sadly all he has said to us is "Driver logged in" and
"Check your speed."
The investigators we have been working with are doing so
well. The two baller buddies John and Minh are so much fun to teach. It is like
talking with 2 buddies that you have always known. They are both planning on
being baptized soon. It blows my mind how well they understand everything and
remember everything. Minh even showed up to stake conference 2 hours early to
help with directing traffic. Sydney, the miracle we had a few weeks ago, is all
set to get baptized this weekend. She is such a cool girl that cant wait to be
baptized and have the Holy Ghost. Both her, John, and Eric all came on a temple
tour this week with us. The Sacramento Temple Hill is one of my favorite places
here. You always feel the spirit so strong. We taught them points of the
lessons as we walked around the temple. It is such a great way to teach about
the Laws and Ordinances. We were really happy Eric decided to show up. It has
been a while since we have been able to see him. He needs the gospel in his
life so bad, and he knows it. His life is such a mess. He came and really felt
the spirit strong. We had the opportunity to go over to his house the next day
with a member and mow his yard. At first we thought we would be mowing
grass... Definitely not the case. There was 4 foot fox tails, weeds, grass, and
who knows what everywhere. That little mower went to town. We got that place
looking really good. The best part about it was being able to teach him a
lesson after and gave him a date to be baptized. I love being able to work with
the young single adults here in Elk Grove.
Here is a fun story. One that you only get as a zone leader.
This week Elder Murdock and I were having a great day and getting some good
work done. We got a call from one of the sister missionaries who was panicking
quite a bit. We calmed her down and asked her what was going on. She proceeded
to tell us how her companion went out to turn the car on, but used the wrong
key. She used the 1 inch bike lock key and got it stuck in the ignition. That
key is the furthest thing from looking like a car key. OOPS! haha Elder Murdock
and I had to mute the phone for a second as we laughed uncontrollably. We got
ourselves back together, ensured them that we would be right down, and took the
30 minute drive over there. We got in their car, turned the wheel, and pulled
the key right out. Oh boy.
I went on an exchange with an Elder that is assigned to
speak Lao and Mienh. they are 2 crazy Asian languages. As they speak it sounds
like you have a movie playing backwards. Safe to say i understood nothing that
day.
It is amazing to see how my testimony has not only grown so
much, but how it has changed so much as i have been a missionary. I am really
going to miss the spirit that we feel every day as missionaries. I am so
grateful for the Gift of the Holy Ghost that helps us make decisions. I strive
every day to be worthy of it's influence. The things i have learned have helped
me shape the way i want to live the rest of my life . Now i will also be
blessed to learn how to be the safest driver out there thanks to my new friend
Timmy. :)
