Sadly this week wasn't nearly as exciting as weeks have been
here in Georgetown. It basically just consisted of us knocking on lots of doors
and having a hard time finding people to talk to. Every once and a while you
have those weeks where you just have to push through.
One of the daughters in the Johnston family (the family that
got baptized last month) decided she also wants to get baptized on her birthday
that is coming up so we are really excited about that. We also had a ward Luau
this week where they roasted a full pig and tons of chickens. There were about
35 people there who were not members of the church, so we were excited to meet
them and have some good conversations.
Fun Fact: I decided my companion is just like the Asian kid
that plays the piano in the movie "School of Rock." They could be
twins. Only Elder Ooi has a name tag with Christ's name on it. So he is better.
Another Fun Fact: I now have 10 missionaries in my district, and only 2 of them
have not been out longer than i have. Pretty neat.
We saw a dead squirrel this week. Actually we see them all
day every day. But i decided to stop, put my tag next to one, and take a
picture. I think I am starting to go a little crazy out here :)
We have a less active member who was only baptized a year
ago, but has been a 7th day Adventist all his life and still believes that
Saturday is the Sabbath. So every time we go over there he is sure to tell us
that we only keep 9 out of the 10 commandments because we don't keep the Sabbath
day holy.
We had another guy tell us how and why UFO's are real, and
he also told us his story about when he saw Big Foot only 10 feet away from him
once when he was driving down the road. He has a pretty convincing story. I
believe him!
We had lots of people tell us this week how stupid it is to
drive down driveways of people we don't know because the majority of people are
growing weed and wouldn't think twice about shooting people that trespass.
Joke's on them. That is all we do every day. :)
We also realized that because the Jehovah's Witnesses go
around and knock on every door every month, by the time we get around and knock
on someone's door, they are really unhappy to see another person that wants to
talk about God. Those silly JWs.
And that was my week! we went on a cool hike to a lake today
as a zone. It was pretty beautiful.
You are all great. Go find someone that want's a copy of the
Book of Mormon. It's a good book.
Lots of Love,
Elder Gage Black :)
