I seriously can not believe that this transfer is already
over. The past 6 weeks went by soooo fast. Elder Silva and i had so much fun
together. I will be staying in my area, and my new companion is going to be
Elder Murdock from North Carolina. I am really excited because he has been one
of my closest friends here in the mission field. The only thing i am a little
sad about is that they are splitting our area and bringing in sister
missionaries to cover the other half of the YSA ward. The big area was keeping
us busy, and almost every single one of our investigators was in the other side
of the area. So Elder Murdock and I will be starting fresh on this side.
This week flew by. We had many appointments almost every
single day. Missionary work is so much more enjoyable when you have people to
teach all day. That has been a very rare thing on my mission. It is fun going
from appointment to appointment, and feeling the spirit grow stronger after
each lesson you teach.
On friday we had the chance to go to the temple with Kimiko
for her first time doing baptisms for the dead. It was a ward activity so there
were many people there. Elder Silva and I were doing the confirmations for
everyone. I love being able to be the person that is performing that ordinance
for the people coming in. You could feel the people there waiting to accept
their baptism that are on the other side of the veil. The spirit that the
temple has is something i wish i could have all the time.
We ate quite a bit of sushi this week. Elder Black loves
sushi.
On Sunday the ward combined 2nd and 3rd hour, and had the
whole ward gather together in the gym for a special lesson. We had an
investigator with us that had been enjoying church and was looking forward to
this meeting with everyone. We walked in and they introduced the topic. The
dangers and recovery process of Pornography addicition, the importance of
getting married young, and the knowledge of being a child of God. I just about
died. It is a great topic that every YSA should hear. But when you are a
missionary and have an investigator attending your ward for the first time and
THAT is what they experience... Imagine going to see the movie 50 shades of
gray with your parents sitting right next to you. That is how i felt. It all
worked out though, and we put that guy on date for April. Too bad he is in the
other side of the ward that we dont cover anymore.
I hope you are all doing well wherever you might be. Know
that Jesus loves you. And you are a child of the most powerful being in the
world. You are a child of God. And because you are, it doesnt matter what other
people say, think, or do. We are here to prepare to meet God. Not to worry about
others. Just a thought of the day.
