Working with the Young Single Adults here in California is
one of the funnest things i have done my whole mission. Sometimes it is strange
when you have members calling you over because they just got dumped and need
advice that will keep them from going out and making very bad decisions. haha
We never know what a day is going to bring.
This week was full of lots of new things for me. As the zone
leaders we are in charge of making sure that everyone in the zone is doing well
and is being obedient. This week we had to show up to some Elders apartments at
6:30 to make sure they are getting out of bed and studying like they should be.
Some of them have been struggling with that here. Aint nobody got time for
that. We got a call from some sisters freaking out because they thought they
had bed bugs. Im not sure if they wanted us to come over there and exterminate
them with our priesthood or something, but luckily they called back the next
day saying it was a false alarm. I got to attend one of the Spanish District
Meetings. Safe to say i understood nothing for that 1.5 hours of my life. I
wish i knew spanish. haha
We had a couple of really great lessons this week with our
investigators. Our investigator Kimiko is excited for her baptism this
Saturday. She has been invited everyone in the ward and loves talking about it.
Elizabeth, one of our newer investigators, is really starting to progress well.
We had 2 different lessons with her this week. We brought a bunch of members
from the ward who helped us teach some amazing lessons. It was so powerful when
we had these members who have just returned from missions bearing testimony of
the things we teach. Elizabeth really opened up by the end and is now getting
close to baptism. The members here really know how to help with missionary
work.
There is another kid we met with named Justin. He came up to
us saying he has already read the Book of Mormon, D&C, Pearl of Great
Price, and many other documents on LDS.org as he has been "studying our
religion." We went over to answer some of his questions to find 20 pages
worth of in depth notes and questions. It was pretty amazing. He isnt trying to
prove things wrong, he sincerely wants to know if these things are true. We are
excited to work with him and help him recognize the spirit testify to him that
these things are true as we teach from the sciptures.
I had a great interview with President Jardine. He is a very
inspired mission president, and i love being able to work with him. We found
out this week that Elder David A Bednar and Elder Lynn G Robbins will be coming
to speak to our mission on March 13. All of us missionaries are super excited.
You have heard me say it before, but being a missionary is
the greatest thing i have ever done in my life. There hasnt been a time i have
been happier than when i watch the lives of the people here change as they
embrace the gospel. I got to do a baptism interview for a man this week that
has really come to love the Savior and use the Atonement in his life. It is
stories and testimonies like his that make me want to find every single person
i possibly can to bring them to the truth. This church is the greatest thing i
have in my life. I am so grateful for it.
