Yup. It is hot.
I know all of my missionary friends are saying that right
now. I dont know what it is like for all of them, but here it is 108 today and
has been all weekend. That makes for a warm bike ride in a suit in case any of
you have tried it. The great thing, though, is that I am doing it as a disciple
of Jesus Christ, therefore it is all worth it. Elder Dorff and i worked super
hard this week and even though we didnt see crazy amounts of success every day,
we have been blessed. One of those blessings is with Rowena. We had a lesson
with her in the Chapel this week and talked a lot about the gospel of christ,
focusing on baptism. She said she doesnt want to commit to a date until she
knows it's true. So this week she is reading the Book of Mormon every day and
praying for the truth. We got a text today that she is already through 1st
Nephi and wants to know what else she should read. It has only been 3 days so
that is pretty amazing! Now we need her to recognize the difference it makes in
her life. She is solid. Feel free to keep praying for her to recognize the
answers to her prayers.
We met a cool Scottish Couple this week while tracting. They
gave us some water and talked to us in their super cool accent. We did quite a
bit of tracting this week, and besides them nothing too exciting happened
except for this one lady that was really determined to tell us while we were
going to Hell for using Christ's name to convert people to Joseph Smith. It was
sad that she was mistaken like that and didnt understand what we really
believe, and wouldnt let us explain it to her. I didnt feel offended at all
that she was yelling at me, i just felt sorry for her that she wouldnt let us
share this amazing message with her and help her understand what we believe and
what Christ really wants for her. Maybe one day she will recognize the truth.
Well, sorry this is short. There isnt much more to say
though except for i love the Book of Mormon. My testimony of it has been
exceptionally strong recently. It is such an amazing Book. Going around giving
people the chance to read it makes biking in the 108 degree heat worth
it, because it can really change their life.
I love all of you, and I love representing Jesus Christ
every day.
Elder Black
