This week was the beginning of my 3rd transfer in
Georgetown. It wasn't the most exciting of weeks, but it was still good.
There were still some good things that happened. One of
which was our zone conference on Saturday. Elder Daniel L Johnson from the
quorum of the 70 came and spoke to us. He had us bring members of our ward and
then went on to talk for 3 hours about the importance of members and
missionaries working together. He talked about how in 1960 David O McKay said
that the time will come when members and missionaries will work together to
bring many people unto Christ. And in 2013 Thomas S.
Monson said NOW IS THE TIME. Now is the time to hasten the work of salvation. So boom. Prophesy fulfilled. And it is true. God will hasten his work regardless of what we do. It is up to us to be a part of it. Elder Johnson gave us suggestions on how we can more effectively work with members to have more success. It was a great training. It was so neat being able to go up and look him in the eye as i shook his hand and really recognize him as someone called of God to lead us. Priesthood leaders are number one.
This week we also had the chance to help an investigator
trim trees and clean things up in their Christmas tree farm. It smelled like
Christmas the entire time. How cool is that? We got to smell Christmas 2 months
before Christmas actually comes. Pretty cool if you ask me.
There was a day where no one seemed to be opening the door
at all. So in order to keep our sanity, Elder Ooi and I decided to go preach to
some buffalo and donkeys. They were great listeners, but didn't have much to say
back. It is an interesting life i live here in Georgetown..
We did have a cool thing happen last night. Many of you have
been praying for Maureen. We haven't had much contact with her since the time
she called us saying we are on the back burner, but last night we got a call
from her member friend saying that Maureen is still reading the Book of Mormon,
has lots of questions, and listened to every session of conference. She really
loved Elder Bednar's talk because she felt like he was talking directly to her.
So there you go. When we thought she was not going to work out, the Lord
answers our prayers and is helping her reach the truth even though we cant go
by her house. Maybe her husband will leave again and we will be able to go back
over.
Have you seen Meet the Mormons yet? If not, go see it.
Seriously. Bring everyone you know with you.
Lots of love,
Elder Gage Black
