September 29th email "God Will Provide"

I want every single one of you to know that God answers prayers. If you dont believe me, start believing. Two things that happened this week that makes me certain of this.
First, there is the King Fire that has burning up our area for the past 2 weeks. It has now burned over 97,000 acres and earlier this week there was no sign of any help from mother nature. The community has been really rallied together to support the firefighters and those who have been evacuated. There have been countless prayers for rain for the past 2 weeks in order to slow down the blaze. Sure enough, it rained from Thursday to Sunday. PRAYERS ANSWERED. Thursday went from having major fire warnings to having flash flood warnings in the area. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.
Second amazing thing that happened this week. Elder Ooi and I have really been working hard and praying for help so we can find someone to baptize. Praying lots. Thursday we got a call from a member in a neighboring ward saying that he had a friend up in Georgetown that is going through a hard time and would like to learn more about what we believe. We set up an appointment the next day and taught Maureen a solid Restoration lesson. She soaked it in and said she would read the Book of Mormon. On Sunday i was fasting for her in addition to other investigators. Right after i broke my fast, we got a call from the same member saying he talked with Maureen and she had been reading the Book of Mormon for the past 2 days straight and has 5 pages of notes/questions that she wanted to discuss, and also that she went to church with him and loved it. So we cruised over there so we could talk about things and she is really sincerely wanting to know more. We have a few appointments with her this week, and we are super excited about where things could go. Prayers for her would be appreciated. Also pray for Steve. He has a cool white ponytail and is praying for an answer about whether or not he should be baptized.
God answers Prayers. Promise. :)

We were super excited about that this week. We had a fun off-roading adventure to find a less active member. That was a lot of fun too. We were able to help the Habitat for Humanity again this week as we went and repaired a ladies house and did the landscaping and things like that. It always feels good when you help those who are in need. :) As missionaries we do lots of role plays to prepare us for teaching lessons and things like that. This week Elder Ooi decided to Role Play the scenario of serenading a girl on his piano so he can be prepared for BYU. It was the funniest thing ever. Poor guy.

A couple of fun facts:
-Elder Ooi was the national champion in Bushido Sword fighting in Malaysia. Pretty sure he could beat Jack Sparrow in a sword duel.
-There are signs everywhere thanking the firefighters. When i say everywhere... i mean it.
-I ate a party pizza for the first time in ages. Tyson and I used to make them all the time. Good times.

So there you have it. Another great week in Georgetown. I hope you all have a blessed week and remember that God is always there waiting to answer our prayers. All you have to do is ask. :)

Lots of love,
Elder Gage Black
